The project's purpose was to provide accurate and reliable information, updates and highlights from NASA Heliophysics science and missions to NASA leadership at HQ, legislative staff and the greater space science community around the world.
The project's vision was to create communications and outreach opportunities for space science community members and stakeholders to engage with NASA Heliophysics research, science and missions.
The project's focus was to deliver information, updates and opportunities for research through monthly internal and external communications products like newsletters, and share exciting science and technology highlights through a regular talk series.
The project was implemented through Helio Connects, a communications campaign that included: the production of monthly internal and external newsletters; weekly science and mission highlight products for the NASA Administrator's Office, the Office of Science and Technology Policy and the Office of Management and Budget; monthly highlight products for top NASA leadership in science and a regular talk series that hosted speakers from all over the country.
The project culminated in a space science outreach event at NASA HQ that showcased some of NASA most impressive missions and included over 30 speakers and table participation from a dozen different different research and science organizations. The event also included a mini planetarium, an immersive art installation of the surface of the sun using NASA data, virtual reality experiences in space and even hardware from missions that have been flown in space.
I supported all aspects of this project from conceptualization through to culmination. I was the lead producer on all communication and outreach projects toward this community building effort at NASA. I brainstormed, provided guidance on the project's concept, vision and focus and was solely responsible for the production of all newsletters, highlights, reports, talk series and other event coordination, logistics and marketing.
